With «Skretch» Batboner continues their search for the perfect mix of catchyness and taste expanding experimentation. Inspired by the usual suspects; deathrock, gothrock and surf, but also some thoughts (and dark prayers) from experimental hardcore bands like Dillinger Escape Plan. This may be hard for the listener to catch, but therein lies the magick.
The lyrics to «Skretch» was written a while after Floyd, Batboner’s vocalist, moved to the Czech Republic as a gamble. A move he felt necessary, to recover from an ongoing burnout. At a time of being absolutely broken and in excruciating pain, «Skretch» started to manifest. Maybe the title comes from trying to scratch his way out of the hole I had sunk into. Who knows. 
Fun fact: The title is meant to be pronounced with a clear ɛ sound, inspired by an old Norwegian comedy skit mocking the TV show Idol.

these charades, why do we bother.
Trapped inside a cage we wrecked ourselves
Staring for too long
into the space of endless spaces do I find the place
Where I can soon belong. Carelessly away!

These ways of which no other
feels, the same and all to blame
I do not feel as feelings left me lost and numb.
What changes wave on waves,
this life itself it misbehaves,
and then abruptly leave me to myown
A shame!

To drowning wishes far away
I lost the sense of taste
And any reason as to stay
The golden cage is all but rust

Of memories in decay

These memories of which I see
are forming strings of Agony,
I’d never thought to tell you Leave me be,
For what you feel is warmth and comfort,
all I see is true discomfort,
drowning me beyond uncertainty!
Shapes of shade on shade unveiled,
they ́re calling to my misery,
and pull me ever further from myself
Do we see the end in sight,
or are these shimmers of the blight,
unveiling me in veils of disbelief.
